The ARC Training Centre for Archaeology in the Resources Sector is pleased to welcome Dr Joni Parmenter to the Training Centre. A social anthropologist with more than 20 years of experience spanning academia, industry, government and Indigenous organisations, Dr Parmenter is recognised for her expertise in Indigenous engagement and the social dimensions of mining and the resources sector.
Her research focuses on Aboriginal employment and enterprise development, cultural heritage, governance, gender, cultural training, agreements between Aboriginal communities and resource companies, and post-mining land use and rehabilitation. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with mining companies, Indigenous organisations and government agencies to strengthen Indigenous engagement, cultural heritage management practice and social performance across the resources sector.
In her new role with the Training Centre which commenced on 7th September, Dr Parmenter will build on this experience to advance partnership-based research and practice in cultural heritage management. We look forward to the valuable expertise, leadership and networks she will bring to the Centre.
