James Keal is a researcher and engineer specialising in drone technology, machine learning and computer vision, with expertise spanning medical imaging, embedded systems and scientific computing.
His work focuses on applying advanced digital technologies to archaeological research, including machine learning for identifying rock art chronologies and the development of digitisation and imaging systems for archaeological collections and industry partners. James started with the ARC Training Centre for Archaeology in the Resources Sector on 31st August. His PhD project, Automated Detection of Archaeological Features Using Drone Imaging, is being undertaken at Flinders University under the supervision of Professor Ian Moffat and Dr Jarrad Kowlessar and aims to advance innovative approaches to cultural heritage site identification and management.
